The 2011 WFZC Convention was held in Shanghai, China, between the 8th and the 11th November 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Pudong, Shanghai. More than 35 countries were represented and 300 delegates attended the Opening Ceremony hosted by the Mayor of the Shanghai Municipality.
The Convention was supported by the SHANGHAI FREE TRADE ZONES ADMINISTRATION (SFTZA) & CHINA FREE TRADE ZONE & EXPORT PROCESSING ZONE ASSOCIATION (CFEA)
Shanghai Free Trade Zones Administration was formed to bring together three of the major zones in the Shanghai region: Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, Yangshan Free Trade Port Area and the newly established Shanghai Pudong International Free Trade Zone. This fundamental restructuring shows China at the cutting edge of Free Zone strategy. This event offered an insight into how the world's major zones will develop in the future and how smaller zones can emulate their success.
The Two Day Conference included a visit to Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port.
On behalf of all those present WFZC would like to express their gratitude to the co-organisers and hosts for a hightly successfull, well manged and enjoyable event.

ZONE AMBASSADORS
To mark the occasion of the Tenth Anniversary of WFZC the Convention appointed a select number of Goodwill ‘Zone Ambassadors’.
Their role includes representing the interests of the zone movement to governments, business organisations, regulatory bodies and local communities and media.
These are for 3 year terms and these representatives of the Free Zone movement have agreed to provide a short briefing about events in their area mid way between the Annual Conventions.
The ‘Zone Ambassadors’ will be invited to include a reference to this appointment on their business cards and will be free to refer to their affiliation to WFZC during their term.
