2012 EVENTS REVIEW
LONDON 2012 ANNUAL
CONVENTION
FREE AND SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONES
DELIVERING ECONOMIC GROWTH AND SOCIETAL
ADVANCE
Our 12th Convention was memorable for the depth and breadth of the presentations from our superb panel of Speakers. The Convention topics: TRADE & SERVICES - OPPORTUNITIES FOR ZONES; FINANCE AND THE INVESTMENT CLIMATE; DEVELOPING ZONES TO MEET CHANGING NEEDS; COMMUNICATION AND OUTREACH analysed how Zones will adapt and grow over the next few years, post the current economic downturn.
WFZC would like to thank all those who joined us in London and made the event so worthwhile. As the Convention drew to a close representatives of five organisations closely involved in Zone development signed a joint Declaration (Download the 12th Convention Declaration). These were WFZC, the National Association of Foreign Trade Zones (USA), the Export Council for the Promotion of EOUs and SEZs, India, the Africa Free Zones Association and the Association of Free Zones of the Americas.
WFZC looks forward to developing new training courses, intermediate conferences and the annual Convention in 2013 and to welcoming yet more stakeholders in Zone programmes to participate in future events.

At WFZC we monitor Special Economic
Zones around the world and more than 120 countries
now have some form of zone development programme - India, China & South East Asia, Middle East, North and South America, Russia and Central Asia, Europe and Africa.
Speakers and Delegates who have participated in our meetings represent a wide cross-section of organisations from almost all these countries, and from others considering their establishment - Zones and the Authorities who regulate them, Government Ministries, Investment Promotion Agencies, Corporates and Location Specialists as well as Investors, Banks and other Financial Advisers.
ZONE AMBASSADORS
To mark the occasion of the Tenth Anniversary of WFZC the Convention appointed a select number of Goodwill ‘Zone Ambassadors’.
Their role includes representing the interests of the zone movement to governments, business organisations, regulatory bodies and local communities and media.
These are for 3 year terms and these representatives of the Free Zone movement have agreed to provide a short briefing about events in their area mid way between the Annual Conventions.
The ‘Zone Ambassadors’ will be invited to include a reference to this appointment on their business cards and will be free to refer to their affiliation to WFZC during their term.
